VIRGIN WHO CAN’T DRIVE

There’s nothing wrong with sex, there's just other topics.

Case in point, I saw The Best Man for the first time when I was a kid.

It wasn't until I got older that I actually noticed Lance's teardrops as Mia was walking down the aisle, understood them and hence dreamed that my husband would shed a small tear on our day (for different reasons, of course).

VIRGIN

noun   vir·gin   \  ˈvər-jən \

1) without experience of; not previously exposed to

2) not yet disturbed or changed by human activity

3) without admixture, alloy, or modification: Ex: virgin gold.

Virgin Who Can’t Drive is inspired by the movie, Clueless. 90’s. Knee-high socks. Alaia dresses. And most importantly, the moment Tai called Cher, “A virgin who can’t drive.”

Translation: You just failed your driver’s test and you haven’t even had sex, please have several seats. (In your mansion, because you can’t actually be in the driver’s seat.)

Sex and driving are some of life’s known “firsts”. First experiences and first lessons.

Driving taught me one of life’s most valuable lessons: Stay in your own lane, until you’re ready to conquer the next.

Sex taught me another: Value yourself first.

This actually, is not about sex. Let’s dig a little deeper, sweetie. :)

Virgin Who Can't Drive is about experience, truth and self-discovery. If Cher Horowitz were brown, curvy, southern, HBCU educated, millennial and NOT affiliated with Stacey Dash, this might be her story. Luckily, it’s mine.

Disclaimer: I use cultural references for everything.

Much love,

Kelly
